Do you want to visit Sogndal?
We love to welcome guest from all over both Norway and the rest of the world. The beautiful nature combined with football is the perfect location for a holiday. This is some of the ways you could get to Sogndal:
By plane:
The nearest airports with international flights are the ones in Bergen and Oslo. There are also a few flights from abroad to Ålesund:
- Destinations Bergen Airport
- Destinations Oslo Airport
- Destinations Ålesund Airport
- The airports in Bergen and Oslo also have direct flights to Sogndal's local airport “Haukåsen”
By train:
The nearest train station is in Flåm (approx. 70 kilometres from Sogndal). The connection there to Myrdal is considered one of the most beautiful train routes in the world:
From Myrdal there are direct connections to Bergen and Oslo.
Alternative train stations are located in Gol and Otta. From Gol stasjon you can continue by a direct bus to Sogndal skysstasjon. During the summer months, there is also a bus connection Otta skysstasjon - Lom sentrum - Sogndal skysstasjon, which takes you to Sogndal in approx. 4 hours 30 minutes. Rental car companies can be found both in Gol and Otta (see links further down under “Car rental”).
General information about train connections!
By bus:
There are daily buses from Oslo bussterminal and Bergen busstasjon to Sogndal skysstasjon. The journey time from Oslo is approx. 6h 30min. From Bergen it takes about 4h 30min. Information on the various bus connections can be found at the following website:
By express boat:
Sogndal can also be reached by boat. There is a direct connection from Bergen strandkaiterminalen to Sogndal kai all year round. In addition, a connection to Flåm kai is offered between spring and autumn. Although this express boat does not go to Sogndal, it stops at Leikanger kai beforehand. From there it is less than 30 minutes by bus to Sogndal skysstasjon. All express boat connections can be viewed and booked on the following page:
Car rental:
Besides the larger cities such as Oslo or Bergen, as well as smaller towns like Gol or Otta (mentioned before under the section “train”), there is also a rental company directly in Sogndal (currently Hertz). Further car hire options are available at Haukåsen Airport (see above) or in the nearby village of Kaupanger.
